Social adult day care is a very supportive program for seniors, generally over the age of 55. Others who are below the age of 55 would be someone who is handicapped or has a brain injury or Alzheimer's. In most cases, insurances cover the cost of the program and there is also a cash system in the case of no insurance.
So what does social adult day care do? It is a wonderful program that has a supportive component to keep the client active, learning, and providing delicious and nutritious meals. As people age, being alone becomes a depressing experience. Much research has shown that when they become a part of a community program that focuses on learning and participating in activities, their minds become younger, less depressed, and appear more energized. They become the center of focus.
It is important to become part of a special community that focuses on things they enjoy. The center should be busy, involved, and have interests that motivate your loved one. At Staten Island Social Adult Day Care, we have many structured activities throughout the day, and always open to new ideas for activities our members would like to participate. We have a variety of offered things to participate in. We have board games, puzzles, bingo, yoga, gardening, spiritual enrichment, jummah, computer literacy, arts and crafts, sewing machines, and many other activities. Your loved one can participate in a group or do whatever activities they want to do when they want to do them. What makes our program different from other programs is that we focus on the family, not just the client. Children and grandchildren are very important. They are always welcome to come and join in on the fun.
Nutrition is a very important cornerstone for their development and well-being. It is not uncommon to find that seniors do not practice a balanced diet because they are not able to go grocery shopping or cooking. We do the cooking for them. They will receive nutritious, delicious and hot halal meals. In addition to meals, they will also receive a snack and a goodie bag for them to bring home. Our meals are prepared by a licensed dietitian and every meal can be modified to a choice your loved one wants to enjoy.
Participation can be part-time or full-time. Most insurances will cover the cost of the program, but in the event of no insurance coverage, we do have a cash option. This works well for a senior who is home alone while their caretaker is working and they are home alone. We provide all the transportation, activities, and meals.
We enjoy what we do and we are certain the client will have a lot of fun. We invite our prospective client to come in for a free day to get to know us!
